Electric Motors:
Rewinding is economical: Rewinding cost will be always less than 60% of the cost of a new motor.
Rewinding reduces down Time: Production down time can be extremely costly, and having an important motor burn our will sometimes shut down a production line. Having a motor rewound often takes less than 24 hours on small motor and less than 3 days on bigger motors. Acquiring a new replacement motor is likely to take longer.
Rewinding is ecofriendly : Recycling is an ecofriendly operation and it reduces usage of natural resources.
Reason for motor failure:
Electrical motor may have failed due to extreme overheating. If a motor overheats, the windings in the motor may melt the enamel originally coated over the windings that causing a short circuit in the coils. These extreme overheating is caused by different factors, to name a few:

Single Phasing: A single phased winding failure is the result of an open circuit in one of the phases that supply power to the motor. The open circuit is usually caused by a bad fuse, bad connection, an open contactor or a broken power line.
- Insulation Failure: Insulation failure may result due to vibration, voltage surge, abrasives, and contamination by hostile environments.
- Single Phasing: Thermal Failure: : -Severe thermal deterioration of the insulation in one or all phases of the motor normally is caused by very high currents in the stator winding due to a locked rotor condition caused by Mechanical failure of bearings or followers such as gear box, pumps, Machineries etc…
How we do rewinding ?
At GMRS, the following is what we consider when rewinding a motor to its original efficiency:
- The stator core will be carefully inspected for damage before the windings are stripped. If damage is evident, no further work will be done until you and repair personnel have had a chance to discuss the matter.
- The old windings will either be cold stripped, or stripped after baking in a temperature-controlled oven at a set point temperature no higher than 350°C.
- The new windings will have the same number of turns as the original windings, and will use wire having the same (or higher) insulation temperature rating. This wire will either have the same gauge as the original, or parallel wires will be used which together have the same total cross-sectional area of copper.
- Bearing seats are reconditioned to OEM Specifications
- Reconditioning of terminal blocks and all the rubber packing will be replaced.
- The original bearings will be replaced with new bearings of the same type.

- Very low rolling resistance by using the best bearings and bearing clearance. Our experienced machinists measure bearing seats of both end covers and rebuild or insert sleeves for correcting bearing seats

Duplication
Based on sample or Electrical and Mechanical Specification, we can inspect and reverse engineer the transformer winding components and produce a transformer with the exact same winding components. The outlook may be slightly different; however, the electrical specifications will be the same
Repair/Rewind
GMRS will assess the condition of the transformer whether it is suitable for repair. Some units that are damage extensively may not be able to repair. At times, repair work may be more expensive than getting a new transformer as more effort is required.
